SUP Pilates with Kara

Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) and Pilates both emphasize core engagement.  The practice of either, informs the other.  Together, they create a deepened benefit.

     Pilates on the SUP (Stand-Up Paddleboard), takes some of the simple Pilates mat exercises to the board and onto the water.  The dynamic outside environment of wind, water, sun and motion, create a beautiful and ever-changing, unpredictable place from which to develop stability! The environment can't be controlled, but our slow, precise, repetition of movements can be.  Through the blending of elements and effort, we find length in our limbs, awareness in our torso, and alignment in our form.

     SUP Pilates is beginner-friendly & open to all persons.  We dress weather appropriately - in comfortable clothes we can move in, that can tolerate a damp board or splash of water (no one has ever fall in during class!). During the workout , we are anchored in shallow water; after class there is the option of a brief paddle in the bay.  I offer drop-in sessions during the late spring, summer & early fall. 

UPCOMING SUP PILATES CLASSES:
It's time again for a float & some exercise on the sea. Being on the water is a glorious place to be, witnessing the setting sun shine her rays in brilliance across the sky & water.  The classes take place in Brentwood Bay at Pacifica Paddle Sports: pacificapaddle.com

Spring & Summer, 2019:
         Tuesday evenings from 6:30 -8:00

We stay dry (for the most part - except for some drips from the paddle, etc), so we can dress in 'yoga type' clothes - something comfortable to move in. Some folks like to have bare feet, others prefer to wear booties - it's up to you. You'll likely need your sunglasses.

One does not have to have SUP (Stand UP Paddle board) experience, nor Pilates experience to enjoy this.

CLASSIC PILATES CLASSES:
     My classic Pilates Classes are a combination of classic Pilates mat exercises together with massage & other self-care techniques that at once soften & free the body as we lengthen & strengthen.  Offering sequences that combine all planes of movement, I design my classes as a form of back care.  My background is with the Stott Pilates Method( www.studiowestpilates.com)  where I nurtured my interest in alignment & form  and further studies through www.feelgoodyogavictoria.com/# expanded my repertoire to incorporate a Yogalates style.

    I offer my Pilates classes on retreat & sessionally at Karyn Woodland's Yoga Studio in Metchosin, B.C. 
    I offer Pilates in Water when I have access to warm water pools (i.e.. on retreat, etc.)
