Yoga Therapy can benefit everyBODY!
Over the years I've seen many people discover yoga and benefit from their exploration and practice. As a teacher and yoga therapist, I work with a wide range of students and private clients. Clients may be young, fit, and able-bodied, confined to a wheel chair, or on any range in the spectrum of health, and still benefit from a yoga. From those wanting to increase their well-being, to those healing from PTSD, stress, anxiety, or depression, to those coping with aging bodies or mobility issues, there is a practice that can help .
Yoga & it's various practices include breathing techniques (pranayama), mindfulness, meditation, lifestyle choices, physical postures (asana), work with sound & mantra and other spiritual practices, all of which can be drawn upon in order to tailor a practice that fits the individual and one's particular needs & goals.
"I have been struggling with depression and health specific anxiety since late last year and went on medication about 3 months ago. In addition to the medication, I have made room in my life for things like yoga and acupuncture that I was previously very skeptical of. Finding you and your class has been one of the best things to happen to me on my journey towards better mental health and I wanted to let you know how grateful I am. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!"

Yoga Therapy can help those who’ve never tried yoga before.
Group vs Private Sessions:
Group yoga classes are great for general maintenance and for the enjoyment of practicing with others.
Private sessions are a good place to start your explorations into yoga, providing individual guidance and instruction to make your experience safe & enjoyable. There are so many styles of yoga available today and not every style is suitable for everyone. For those with particular issues to address, yoga therapy sessions are tailored to your specific needs, and what is appropriate for you, rather than you following a set class.
There are many reasons people choose to have a private session. Some are new to yoga and prefer to begin with a private teacher to become familiar and comfortable with yoga before beginning a group class; others want to work on posture, or toward healing an injury, others to deepen their yoga practice or for emotional or spiritual support and guidance, and others for lifestyle and diet recommendations. Many people these days are referred by their doctors to take yoga to help with stress & anxiety, high or low blood pressure, chronic fatique, menopausal symptoms and more.
What happens in a Yoga Therapy session?
After an initial intake and information gathering, I will design a program specifically for you. It may include breath work, yoga postures, meditation or lifestyle or diet suggestions, depending on your goals or issues. We will go over this together in your session and you'll be given a "yoga plan" to follow between sessions. In exchange for your practice, you will soon begin to notice improvements - physically, mentally & emotionally. A regular yoga practice, even if only 10 minutes a day will help you feel more centered, balanced, light and joyful!
If you'd like to include yoga therapy as part of your practice of self-care, please contact me to set up an appointment. Sessions can be held at my home studio, in your home, or at a public yoga studio, depending on your needs.
My rates are below, and you can contact me through the "Contact" link above.
I look forward to hearing from you!
**Please note that Yoga Therapy is a complimentary treatment system and is not meant to replace your primary health care provider.
